Christie and Justin (Colorado Springs, CO)

February 1, 2012 | Engagement Sessions | Be the First to Comment

I had the opportunity to meet a fun couple this past weekend. They drove down from Wyoming and I shot their engagement photos around Manitou and Downtown Colorado Springs. Despite waking up and seeing that it was 15 degrees out (ouch!), it quickly warmed up as the sun came out and we had a blast. They also wanted to bring their dog Beau for some of the photos, which I always encourage. =)

And the grand finale..

It was so great to meet you both. Thanks for making the trip down!

The Stennett Family (Colorado Springs, CO)

January 31, 2012 | Family Portraits, Kids, Newborn Photography | Be the First to Comment

I have a beautiful friend named Sarah and she has a beautiful family. Three girls and a great husband and they asked me into their home to take some family photos now that their youngest daughter is here. These family photos make me smile SO much. They are bright and happy and these girls are so cute. There was lots of excitement as the oldest two girls loved on their little sister. There was the chaos of it being the first few weeks with a newborn. Again. But it was wonderful. And I loved being a part of it. These are my favorite types of family photos to take.  Thanks Sarah and Rob for trusting me with these moments.

Phineas (2 months old)

January 14, 2012 | Newborn Photography, Personal | 2 Comments

There’s something about taking newborn photos without any props that soothes my soul. The images show quiet moments. Soft, cuddly baby parts. Life in a world where time doesn’t exist and there’s no worries or stress. It’s natural and real. And I’m in love. I’m in love with a little man named Phineas. He came into my life 2 months ago and now I can’t imagine my life without him. I want to remember these moments because as they did with my other two sons, the moments went by so quickly. I want to remember the swirl on the top of his head, his chunky little legs. In just a few months he’ll be crawling and laughing, and then he’ll have opinions and greater needs than just being with his momma in these quiet moments in my room.

I hope you enjoy this sneak peek into my heart.

Shannon and Ryan (wedding – Colorado Springs, Co)

December 27, 2011 | Bridal Portraits, Wedding Photography | Be the First to Comment

Shannon and Ryan were married late June (I told you I was behind on blogging some great weddings!) here in Colorado Springs. When I first met Shannon, she was working as an electrician and had all her work gear on. I loved her personality instantly. She’s funny, witty and the two of them always have some joke that they are sharing. It’s fun to be around them and I was looking forward to photographing their big day. Speaking of big day, Shannon knew exactly what she wanted for her wedding and how she all wanted it to play out.  She decided on a classic look and was absolutely stunning. She’s not only super smart, she’s incredibly beautiful. Ryan, sounds like you have the best of both worlds with your bride.

They were married at the Shove Chapel and it was a perfect evening — no rain — just beautiful, warm sun, creating the perfect light.

Amber with Beautiful Expressions did an incredible job with the flowers, as usual!

They had their reception at the Dale Street Bistro with live music. Perfect for the beautiful evening!

The P Family – (Colorado Springs, CO)

December 26, 2011 | Family Portraits, Kids | Be the First to Comment

I’ve been a bit busy the past few months, like having a baby, so I got a bit behind on posting blogs. However, I’m back in the saddle now and I have some great shoots and weddings to share with you from when Colorado was still green and lacking snow!

Here’s the P family — I met the mom of this family a few years back and over the years we’ve grown closer. We both share a love for photography and I admire her skill of being an excellent mom to these four beautiful kids. Enjoy these — they were a blast to take!

Thanks again guys for a wonderful evening. Always fun!

Erika & Grady (wedding – Colorado Springs, CO)

November 2, 2011 | Bridal Portraits, Wedding Photography | Be the First to Comment

Erika and Grady are the kind of couple you can’t help but like. When I met them over a year ago, I loved their excitement for their big day and they wanted to have their wedding vendors be excited for their day as well. I hadn’t ever had the opportunity to do a wedding at UCCS, especially not in the library, but I loved the uniqueness of it! Erika and Grady decided to get ready at a large vacation home in Downtown Colorado Springs and it was perfect for awesome late morning lighting for the getting ready photos.

My gift to my brides is a personalized name hanger for their dress photos. Before I told Erika this, she called and asked me where I got all the other ones I used in the photos so she could order one and had to let the cat out of the bag on her surprise. Although they may not use it to hang their dress on it forever, I think it’s much better than a plastic hanger that most dresses come on!

Erika’s mom made her veil. She hand stitched all the lace on the bottom, and it was stunning.

What I loved most about this family is their love and emotion for one another. Such an important moment of a dad handing off his daughter and I’m so glad the way this photo turned out. I love real people and real emotion.

Erika was an awesome wife and rented this car for Grady for the afternoon.

Thanks so much Erika and Grady — you guys are such a wonderful couple and I’m so glad to have you as new friends!

I  had a chance to work with these awesome vendors:

Vacation Rental:/Getting ready location: Vacation home downtown Colorado Springs

Wedding Venue: University of Colorado at Colorado Springs

Flowers and Cake: Cris Geiger from CG Blume

DJ/MC: Dan with Laser Sound LLC

Holly (+baby Liam) – maternity – Denver, Colorado

September 27, 2011 | Family Portraits, Maternity Photography | Be the First to Comment

My dear, sweet best friend is having her 3rd boy this December and I’m so excited to share her maternity photos with you. We also did a family photo shoot at the same time, but I’ll share those later.

We drove up to Denver and tried out a new location, had incredible lighting and she rocked the photo shoot, as always. I’m not supposed to tell, but she’s turning 32 in 3 months and I think she’s stunning! So excited for you my friend. You already make such a great mom to your other two boys and Liam is blessed to join in on all the fun!

And we had to get a few of her and her hubby.

And the brothers.

Hands down, Morgan’s shoes are among my favorite shoes I’ve come across simply because of the pink.

Such a great group of ladies to have on her side during her big day.

Tiffany and Shawn (wedding – Colorado Springs, CO)

September 8, 2011 | Wedding Photography | 2 Comments

Tiffany and Shawn were married at The Broadmoor mid-afternoon in late July and it was such a wonderful day! I love how these turned out and how the emotion of the day is played out in the images below. I also adore Tiffany’s choice in colors for her reception — and her table decor is hands down my favorite as of yet. I wanted to take home all the centerpieces as well as the table coverings but they wouldn’t fit in my camera bag. (kidding!).

Tiffany couldn’t have picked out a better dress — she looked absolutely stunning as you’ll see shortly.

Incredible, right? They make me happy just looking at them.

The view to the left was overlooking the golf course.

It was such an honor to be there on your day — wishing you the best on the east coast!

Esther and Jeff (wedding – Denver, Colorado)

August 12, 2011 | Bridal Portraits, Wedding Photography | 1 Comment

Since meeting Esther and Jeff a year or so ago, there are a few things I’ve really grown to admire about them. First off is their communication with one another — the love and mutual respect they show for one another when they are together. Secondly, and more importantly in my opinion, is their faith. I loved that their ceremony was very personal, including their officiant who had known them both since they were 16 — and knew their faith in God. Furthermore, they incorporated their love for God throughout their wedding with multiple prayers with their mentors and friends. When I left them that evening, I knew they were starting out their marriage on the right foot by having God at the center of it and nothing makes me happier than to see that with the couples I photograph.

They were married at Hudson Gardens and Event Center in Denver and during their ceremony, we had dark, ominous clouds looming overhead only to clear up and provide incredible lighting for their photos after the ceremony.Yay!

Praying with the bridal party moments before the ceremony.

Giving his daughter away.

It’s tough to be a flower girl. ;)

And they’re married!

Be blessed you two,

Megan
