The arrival of Samuel Adventure

If you’ve ever wanted to meet a real life superhero, you just need to meet a mom. I love birth photography for so many reasons, but the real reason is because this amazing woman carries a baby for many months, her body changing, moods changing, and if it’s her first, her life really changes (as does for the dad, but this is about moms at the moment. ;). It’s an incredibly selfless act to bring a child into the world and being a first hand witness to a life being born beings me incredible, immeasurable joy. It’s no doubt God is in that very moment and each of those moments are so very different from the next. It is a huge honor for someone to ask me to photograph their child being born. So many things to consider on a personal level for each of my clients, and I am so thankful Ann and Joe trusted me to be there. Holly (+baby Liam) – maternity – Denver, Colorado

My dear, sweet best friend is having her 3rd boy this December and I’m so excited to share her maternity photos with you. We also did a family photo shoot at the same time, but I’ll share those later. We drove up to Denver and tried out a new location, had incredible lighting and she rocked the photo shoot, as always. I’m not supposed to tell, but she’s turning 32 in 3 months and I think she’s stunning! So excited for you my friend. You already make such a great mom to your other two boys and Liam is blessed to join in on all the fun! And we had to get a few of her and her hubby. And the brothers.

Aubrey & Kurt – Maternity Shoot

I met Aubrey and Kurt a little under 2 years ago. I entered the location where I bank and was changing my address information with the teller when she asked what I did for work. I told her I was a wedding photographer. She then mentioned she was getting married that following January and was looking for photographers. We decided to meet for coffee so she could look over my work and they decided to hire me. What I didn’t know then was that was the beginning to a wonderful friendship with their family and mine. We did their engagement sessions in the summer and fall of 2008. They flew me down to San Diego to photograph their wedding in January of 2009 and my husband officiated their ceremony which was very special! Through the summer of 2009 and between them moving they lived with us for a short period of time which was a fun experience as my two year old son adores them! Sara and Nick – Maternity

Sara and Nick were one of the first couples we met when we moved here to Colorado Springs a little over 2 years ago. They are expecting their 3rd child in just a few short weeks and I feel blessed to be able to capture these moments for them. I love maternity photos because they depict a moment in time with that one specific child that will never be repeated. Sure, you might be pregnant again, but never again in the same way you were with that child. It’s priceless and beautiful. I think that’s why I love photography so much — it captures moments and saves them forever. Sara, you’re stunning!

Jennie and Cameron – Maternity Session

Jennie and I spoke about doing some maternity photos of her just a few days ago — but we knew we had to do them soon since her due date is this next Wednesday! Unfortunately, it was snowy and 15 degrees out the evening I went to their home for the shoot. Luckily I have backdrops for situations when we can’t go outdoors. Here’s some from the shoot!
