Vacation (personal)

Last Thursday, I boarded a flight along with my husband and two boys to Portland, Oregon where I grew up to spend until Tuesday visiting friends in Portland, Lincoln City and Medford. It was a jam packed few days, but so wonderful to have some much needed downtime that we rarely get, especially as a family. We started the weekend at the coast and rented a beach house with 4 other couples and their kids for a few nights — all I can say was that it was too short! I loved waking up before everyone else was up and watching the waves crash onto the beach with my coffee in hand and nothing else to do. I loved seeing all our friends that we’ve known for so long and spend quality time with them; chatting and eating good food. Can I go back there now? Please? While there, I had a great time doing some photo shoots as well. I did two family photo sessions and a trash-the-dress session. The trash-the-dress session with Audrey and Curtis (you’ll remember their wedding from June) was done on the beach at sunset. Perfection. I can’t wait to show you more photos from […]

Jubilee and Angelene

The day of Jubilee and Angelene’s wedding,  it snowed. Not just nice little flakes that would have been fun for the photos, but wet, windy and very cold snow. They really wanted some outdoor sunset photos in the fields nearby and I felt so bad it couldn’t happen, so I offered to do an after the wedding session for them when they got back from their honeymoon. I just shot this a few days back, but here’s a few that stood out to me and I had so much fun with this session. Thanks Angelene and Jubilee for being so wonderful. You’re both so full of life and love for one another and it’s contagious. I loved laughing with you and getting to know you both these past few months. 🙂 Jubilee expressed his interest in photography so I brought along some of my vintage camera collection to play around with.

Julie & Jeremy – Mess the Dress

I have officially been gone way too long in the blog world. These past few months have been crazy around here with getting the final albums out to couples from the past few weddings, then the holidays came and went — now that things are calming down, and I realized I still have quite a few shoots to post! I met up with Julie and Jeremy on a cold day in October (told you I’m behind!!) for a Mess the Dress photo shoot. We had literally been planning this shoot since their wedding in February. She knew she wanted to do something like this after the wedding, and when everything calmed down for them post wedding, we met out in a field in east Colorado Springs with their favorite “horse powers”. 🙂 There’s something about the clouds east of the Rockie Mountains that are just amazing. Since moving here, I’ve been blessed to be out at numerous photo shoots and watch clouds produce such dark colors that just look awesome in photos. However, these ones later produced large rain drops as well. ;(

Austin & Katie – Mess the Dress

It’s locations like this one in Colorado Springs that really make me excited to be a photographer here. It’s couples like Katie and Austin that really make me love my job. Not to be cheesy, but it’s true. The grass was cut at this field below a month or so ago, so when I suggested that location for their Mess the Dress photo shoot, I was unsure if we’d have some longer grass to work with. I was literally jumping for joy when I saw it came up to my waist in some parts! If that doesn’t get you excited, well… that’s okay — because I was excited for all of us! Anyway, you might remember Austin and Katie from my last wedding post. They wanted to do a Mess the Dress session, which is a photo shoot done after the wedding, usually after the honeymoon. They come back relaxed and not rushed for time — she’s in her dress and he’s in slacks and a dress shirt and we take the types of photos we couldn’t take the day of the wedding due to not wanting to “mess” up the dress. So here we are, a week into the […]

Aubrey+Kurt=Married

San Diego, California – This past Friday I flew out to San Diego to photograph my first wedding of 2009! It was an amazing weekend spent with wonderful people and equally wonderful weather. But really, it was all about Aubrey and Kurt. I met them almost a year ago while Aubrey worked for a local bank. I did their engagement photos that March and May and then they decided they wanted to fly me to California for their wedding (yay!) and since that point, they have become such good friends of ours and we felt so blessed to be a part of their special day. Saturday we started really early with Aubrey getting her hair and make up done while the guys had breakfast and got ready at a separate location. This morning we woke up at 5am (ouch!) to head to the beach to catch the sunrise. I was looking forward to this part of the weekend for so long! Let me tell you, it was well worth getting up at 5pm to catch the amazing sunrise and fog coming across the pacific ocean. So without further ado, here’s just some of my favorites. I edited a few on […]
