Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have a second photographer with you at every wedding?
Yes, we do (including destination weddings!). Not only does the second photographer help us stay organized, they help with the set up of the more “formal” photos in a timely manner as well as make sure ties are straight, dresses are fluffed and everyone is “perfect” for the photo. It makes taking the photos go by much smoother (and quicker!) so that you can get back to your guests. And, best of all, they take extra photos. Since the main photographer can’t be everywhere at once (although we try!), it’s great to have a second eye to grab those special moments from a different angle.
What is required to reserve Megan Hardre Photography for our wedding day?
We request 25% of the total package price as a retainer to hold your wedding date. That means we reserve that date specifically for you, take it off of our “available” list, and don’t double book two weddings on the same day. The other part of the package price is split into payments, with the final half being due 4 weeks before the wedding.
How soon should I reserve my wedding date with you?
We book weddings up to 18 months in advance and start filling up around 6-8 months prior, so please contact us as soon as possible to be sure we still have your date available.
I noticed you offer a CD with all the photos on it. What does that mean?
In our wedding and portrait photography, we allow our clients use a print release. That means once we finish the final editing of the photos, you’ll receive a CD with the high resolution images on it to make as many copies as you desire. We can also give you suggestions of places locally that can print your images for you at a higher quality and still save you some money.
How soon after the wedding are the proofs ready?
The edited photos are handed over to the couple 6-8 weeks after the wedding. I edit every single photo and make sure the lighting, blemishes and fun artistic edits are added and fixed throughout the collection of photos.
Where do you take your portrait photography?
We prefer to shoot outdoors in natural light, in the morning or late afternoon when the lighting is most flattering, however, we also have a portable backdrop and lighting equipment in the case of newborn photos, corporate photos or otherwise where you would like us to come to you.
Are you willing to do a destination wedding?
Absolutely! The cost can vary depending on the destination, so contact us and we’d love to work something out with you.
Is your standard package customizable?
Yes! If you’d like to add or subtract items, we’d be more than happy to set up a package that works with the needs of your wedding day.
Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
Should I like my wedding photographer?
We think it’s extremely important to like your wedding photographer. Not only should you like their work, you should probably like who they are as well. You want someone who is going to work for you on your special day and not just go with their “standard” photographs with the same poses they take at every other wedding they’ve done. Wedding photography is very personal and therefore the photographer you choose should want to get to know you and be someone that you can be around your entire wedding day.
