There are certain events that happen and they seem so unbelievable. Events so unfathomable for those of us on the other side of the TV screen. My husband and I sat on our couch last night watching home videos taken of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan while it was happening by those who experienced it first hand; there were hundreds of videos. My heart hurts for the people of Japan and I can’t even imagine what they are going through. So many people afraid, hurting, so many people missing. Their world was turned upside down in just minutes and it’s long from over for them.
There are some wonderful ladies at Utterly Engaged and Ever Ours who put together For Japan With Love. It’s a way for us to donate to Japan and all the money goes to ShelterBox. Each box is tailored to a disaster but typically contains a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack and other vital items. Each box costs $1000 and they are trying to raise enough money to buy 5 boxes. ShelterBox is already on the ground in Japan helping out. I want to help them reach their goal. Will you help too?
I will be participating in the Bloggers day of silence on March 18th in order to raise awareness and to pay respect to those in Japan. In the end though, no matter what orginazation you donate to for this, as long as it makes it to Japan, it’s making a difference. If you’re not in place to donate at the moment, just keep praying! Please check out For Japan With Love for more information.
