Val + Hunter (and their kids – Colorado Springs, Colorado) Family Photos

Val + Hunter (and their kids) Colorado Springs, Colorado I adore large families. I grew up as an only child, so large families always are fun to me. I’ve been photographing this amazing family for a handful of years and what’s even better? My oldest son and their oldest son were in preschool together… and now they are both in junior high. Where does time go? I hunted for a special spot because I wanted to change things up a bit — it was cold with snow still on the ground in other parts of the area but I wanted to grab that late fall lighting with a warm background. Grateful we found it.

Ellen & Andy (married) Colorado Springs, CO

Ceremony: First Methodist Church – Downtown Colorado Springs, Co Reception: Doolittle Hall – Air Force Academy Photographers: Megan and Callie Ellen and Andy are the sweetest couple. They were married a few weeks back downtown Colorado Springs at the First Methodist Church, which is simply so fun to photograph at, especially outside with all of their neat architecture. We stopped at the Garden of the Gods to grab a few more photos of just them on the way to the reception. From the aisle decorations during the ceremony, to the flowers, Ellen told me it was a completely DIY (do it yourself) wedding. She is incredibly creative and made the details of the day very personal to her and Andy.

Meredith + Nathan (Wedding – Colorado Springs Air Force Academy)

Seeing that we’re moving into Spring here in Colorado, I thought I had better blog the beautiful winter wedding of Meredith and Nathan who were married at the Air Force Academy Chapel at the very end of December. Despite being cold, it was a beautiful sunny day and they had an incredible bridal party that didn’t care about being cold for outdoor photos, they just wanted them to be fun. A perfect mix.  Here’s the Academy Chapel in all its glory. Some details. The lovely women who were so wonderful to never say a word about how cold it was. I promised we’d move fast and they made my job easy. Love them! There was snow covering the grounds of the Academy, so they were so smart and wore boots before the ceremony to keep warm. Brilliant! Samantha photographed the guys and I think she did a great job. Such a fun group! Told you they were fun. 🙂 Warm sun and snow. Happy couple. Perfection. I couldn’t stay away from the red wall. Thanks for trusting me guys. Their reception was a blast. Wonderful toasts by the best man and maid of honor, the deserts were beautiful, but the […]

Samantha & Jason

Samantha and Jason had a mid-morning wedding at Garden of the Gods followed by the reception at the Cadet Lodge at the Air Force Academy since he just graduated. The weather that day was perfect — because you never know here in Colorado — and they both looked fantastic! The beautiful bride The handsome groom Cool story about the cake — Jason actually designed it and both Samantha and Jason made the cake topper. Hats off to them for their creativity and also to Boonzaaiher’s for following their design and making this awesome cake! Samantha and Jason, I wish you both the very best in your move and for all the years to come as husband and wife. It was a pleasure getting to know you both and I hope our paths cross again soon! 🙂

Christine & Ryan

I was anticipating this wedding since Christine first contacted me last year to book her date. She has a smile a mile wide and is so incredibly sweet. I didn’t get to meet Ryan until the day of the wedding but I wasn’t surprised to find that he was her perfect match. This was my first wedding at the Air Force Academy and I was so impressed with the natural lighting and the complexity of everything in the upstairs chapel. You need not go overboard with decorating because everything is already there for you. Gorgeous. 🙂 The Air Force Academy Chapel the Thursday morning of the wedding. Christine, you’re beautiful! 🙂 Her father walking her down the aisle. Photo taken by Edi Pettegrew. Loved their first dance. Have you ever heard of the ‘tradition’ of throwing a stuffed sheep rather than the garter? I hadn’t before this wedding — but as you can tell, it’s some serious stuff! This is one of my favs — a perfect, quiet momet right before heading back into the reception. Christine & Ryan, thank you so much for having me play a part in your big day. You have amazing family and friends who […]
