Val + Hunter (and their kids – Colorado Springs, Colorado) Family Photos

Val + Hunter (and their kids) Colorado Springs, Colorado I adore large families. I grew up as an only child, so large families always are fun to me. I’ve been photographing this amazing family for a handful of years and what’s even better? My oldest son and their oldest son were in preschool together… and now they are both in junior high. Where does time go? I hunted for a special spot because I wanted to change things up a bit — it was cold with snow still on the ground in other parts of the area but I wanted to grab that late fall lighting with a warm background. Grateful we found it.

Sarah and Daniel (and their twin boys) – Family Photos – Colorado Springs, Colorado

This family is the best. So much laughter. They are goofy and playful and kind. They love each other in a big way. It was so much fun to do these photos. And hello… twins are THE BEST.

Holly + Ken (and kids) – Colorado Springs, Colorado

I’ve been photographing this sweet family for over a decade. It’s a joy to take their photos once again. They even had a huge snowball fight at the end of it. I love it when families have FUN taking photos. That’s how it should be. Ken + Holly (and their 6 kids) Black Forest, Colorado

Brandon + Callie (family photos) – Colorado Springs, Colorado

Callie + Brandon (and their girls) Downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado Family Photos It’s an honor to photograph other families that own a small business here in town. There’s something special about having someone that truly understands the crazy roller coaster of it all. This family owns Switchback Coffee Roasters and it’s the best coffee shop in town. A perfect patio for sunny days and the inside is cozy for cold days (or any day, really). I’ve spent many hours editing photos in their shop; lots of natural lighting and friendly employees. If you haven’t been there, check it out! We spent one evening the last week in August taking these photos. On a night when the sun is setting a little earlier, and there’s a crisp feel to the air once the sun goes behind Pikes Peak. This family and our family shares a huge love for our city. Both of our families have local brick and mortar storefront businesses that rely on the people of the city; our kids all go to school here and we plan to raise our families here. It’s a beautiful place and we all agree — it’s the people that make it what it […]

The arrival of Samuel Adventure

If you’ve ever wanted to meet a real life superhero, you just need to meet a mom. I love birth photography for so many reasons, but the real reason is because this amazing woman carries a baby for many months, her body changing, moods changing, and if it’s her first, her life really changes (as does for the dad, but this is about moms at the moment. ;). It’s an incredibly selfless act to bring a child into the world and being a first hand witness to a life being born beings me incredible, immeasurable joy. It’s no doubt God is in that very moment and each of those moments are so very different from the next. It is a huge honor for someone to ask me to photograph their child being born. So many things to consider on a personal level for each of my clients, and I am so thankful Ann and Joe trusted me to be there. Not only was it a wonderful experience, I felt like I left with two new friends. Ann is one of those superheroes. She called me last Wednesday saying she had been having contractions since about 8am. We prearranged that she […]

Broderick (3 months old)

My dear friends had a baby. Not only did they have a baby, they had a really, really cute baby. And he happens to reside in the most fashionable nursery I have ever seen. I’m pretty sure he’s perfect in every way and saying I’m excited to watch him grow since they live a stones throw away from me, is saying it mildly. I love these photos of Ashlee doing life with her little man. I hope in 5 years she can look back on these and instantly remember what it was like to hold him in his nursery chair and feel the wind blowing through the window. I hope she can hear his coo’s and laughs. These moments are fleeting, but so incredibly wonderful. Meet Broderick the Brave.

The Nix Family (Woodland Park, Colorado)

The Nix family came to visit Colorado from Texas a few weeks back and I had a chance to take photos of their family at the vacation home they rented. Love the warm sunshine, I loved how they all enjoyed laughing with one another so easily but my favorite part was getting a glimpse into my near future as I have boys too (except much younger). I can only hope mine grow to be as polite and personable as the two Nix boys were when I met them. Enjoy!

The Stennett Family (Colorado Springs, CO)

I have a beautiful friend named Sarah and she has a beautiful family. Three girls and a great husband and they asked me into their home to take some family photos now that their youngest daughter is here. These family photos make me smile SO much. They are bright and happy and these girls are so cute. There was lots of excitement as the oldest two girls loved on their little sister. There was the chaos of it being the first few weeks with a newborn. Again. But it was wonderful. And I loved being a part of it. These are my favorite types of family photos to take.  Thanks Sarah and Rob for trusting me with these moments.

The P Family – (Colorado Springs, CO)

I’ve been a bit busy the past few months, like having a baby, so I got a bit behind on posting blogs. However, I’m back in the saddle now and I have some great shoots and weddings to share with you from when Colorado was still green and lacking snow! Here’s the P family — I met the mom of this family a few years back and over the years we’ve grown closer. We both share a love for photography and I admire her skill of being an excellent mom to these four beautiful kids. Enjoy these — they were a blast to take! Thanks again guys for a wonderful evening. Always fun! Megan

The Brown Family

This family doesn’t need an introduction at all. If you’ve been following my blog for any amount of time, you’ll recognize them. They are my wonderful, sweet friends! If you’re new to my blog, welcome, and you’ll have to check back through my previous posts to see their engagement, wedding, trash the dress, maternity, and newborn photos!  They are so loyal and if they ever move away, I’ll have to follow them because I can’t imagine not taking photos for them every year. 😀 When I jumped in the car to head to the location of the shoot, I asked them if anything was new for them since we last saw one another, and they told me they just found out they were expecting baby #2!! Yay!! He/she will be arriving this fall. I am SO excited for them and looking forward to meeting and photographing their new little person very soon. Thanks so much for allowing me to be a part of your life — it means the world to me. Love you guys.
