Megan + Carlin (married) – Larkspur, Colorado

Megan + Carlin | Married August 30th, 2019 Larkspur, Colorado Venue: Flying Horse Ranch DJ/MC: AJ – Celebrity DJ Wedding Coordinator: Michelle – Flying Horse Ranch Cake: Costco Flowers: Costco Dress: Davids Bridal Photographers: Megan Hardre and Laura Atchison – Megan Hardre Photography Catering: Buffalo Gals Flying Horse Ranch is hands down, one of my favorite venues in Colorado to shoot at — it’s such a neat place with an interesting history. The ranch is on 1400 acres and it’s filled with rolling hills, lovely white fences, barns and lots of horses; besides being a wedding venue, it’s also a working farm. It was bought a few years ago and turned into a wedding venue – previously it was a vacation home, only used twice, by its previous owner. The layout is perfect for an indoor or an outdoor wedding, with lots of ways to make it unique to each couples needs. I know Megan and Carlin through the church we both attend and it was a total joy to be asked to photograph their wedding. They are a great match and I know their marriage will be filled with lots of laughter!

Bemni + Saron (wedding) – Kansas City (post 2 of 2)

(Post 2 of 2) I didn’t know what to expect for that Sunday’s gathering (the day after the official wedding ceremony) for our Ethiopian wedding weekend. I’m glad I didn’t read too much up on it before this weekend because it was incredible to experience it all first hand and without “expectation” and to be told all about it by my newly married friends and to see the excitement in their eyes to share their culture with me. As you’ll see in the photos, the entire wedding party and guests were dressed in their traditional Ethiopian outfits called habesha kemis/libs. The kana is the black velvet cover the bride and groom wore. We took photos with just the bridal party downtown Kansas City to start off the afternoon, then we went to the dinner. Friends, I left in tears this night. Beyond being incredibly happy for my friend, experiencing these traditions and getting to know these close family members to my friend was such a gift. I was there to work, but I was given the gift of this experience and that’s priceless. Let me tell you what happens at this dinner. It’s not just a random gathering. On the […]

Bemni + Saron (wedding) – Kansas City – Post 1 of 2

(Post 1 of 2) I was in Kansas City a few weekends ago photographing a wedding of my dear friend Bemni, who I know from our church in Colorado Springs. He met his bride, Saron, through a friend last year and the are both originally from Ethiopia. It was been 48 hours filled with new experiences and meeting some of the most friendly people I’ve ever had a chance to meet. Their hugs are so welcoming and immediately we’re friends. I’ve loved experiencing their culture and traditions — and of course, the 4 times I ate Ethiopian food. The best. There have been many moments that stood out to me this weekend but one of the Ethiopian traditions I particularly enjoyed was when the groom sees his bride for the first time (3 photos of it below). After the groom and bride get ready in different locations, the groom goes to the bride’s home. So many people came along – the cars just kept arriving and people kept coming in. The home was packed and no one cared. They were all there to celebrate. There was worship, singing and clapping and cheering. Then the groom arrives. The family tries to […]

Ali + Jake (wedding) – Grand Lake, Colorado

It’s no secret that I love to photograph weddings at the Grand Lake Lodge in Grand Lake, Colorado. I’m up there a few times every summer and fall, and it’s lovely each and every time. Ali and Jake’s wedding was no different and they were such a fun couple to work with! Classic cars greet guests as they arrive at the Grand Lake Lodge. Cheers to Ali and Jake!

Kelsey & Anthony (married) Pueblo, Colorado

Wedding Venue: Pueblo Riverwalk Photographers: Megan and Callie – Megan Hardre Photography Day of Wedding Coordination: Katie with Day Planner Events Kelsey and Anthony were married in Pueblo right on the Pueblo Riverwalk. It was a typical blustery summer day in Colorado, but Kelsey made the best of it as did their friends and family, who all enjoyed the awesome live band and great reception venue along with the view of the Arkansas River along the Riverwalk. And how thankful I am for a bride and groom who are up for sitting down in their wedding clothes on their wedding day for the sake of getting some great shots! Can’t pass up the opportunity for some photos in a row boat. Meanwhile, Callie was with the guys doing their photos. Ceremony on the Riverwalk   Wishing you both years of happiness beyond measure! Cheers!

Megan + Rich (wedding – Phoenix, Arizona)

Megan Hardre Photography flew to Phoenix, Arizona at the beginning of October to photograph the destination wedding of Megan and Rich. So much fun getting to know this couple and take their photos in warm weather and blowing palm trees! Just in time to fly home to cold weather. I was excited to photograph this wedding when Megan told me it would have lots of “shabby chic” touches. The wedding ceremony happened at sunset, and the weather was perfect. As it should be. The two things I loved about Megan and Rich was their sense of humor — they are incredibly funny and so are their friends — and secondly, how welcoming they were. The room was packed with their friends and family and it was easy to tell how much they are loved. It was so much fun and such an honor to photograph their day. Getting Ready/Ceremony/Reception: Embassy Suites, Phoenix, Arizona. Photographers: Megan Hardre and Irene Beautiful Megan. Handome Rich! You have palm trees? We will travel…. And…. they are married! And the grand finale… a surprise for Megan and Rich from her mom.

Audrey + Curtis (wedding – Portland, Oregon)

There are few things more important to me in life than my friends. I think personally the list goes God, my husband, my children/family then my friends. I’m talking about the type of friends that you know will be with you and stand by you through everything. The friends you know so well they become family. I’ve known these two half of my lifetime. 15 years. We met in high school when we were young and awkward. Curtis and I hung out in the same crowd (hard not to when we attended a small private school) and he always became friends with the guys I dated in high school, so I saw him often. He was there through the breakups, the drama, the football games, the car trouble, the concerts… and even up to his wedding day we kept in touch. Always a constant friend in my life. Audrey and I became fast friends our Sophomore year and spent hours upon hours in our school’s darkroom developing film and making photos for our yearbook all while rocking out to Beastie Boys and Cake. We worked together at McDonald’s and went through the normal friendship drama as all girls do. In […]
