Brandon + Callie (family photos) – Colorado Springs, Colorado

Callie + Brandon (and their girls) Downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado Family Photos It’s an honor to photograph other families that own a small business here in town. There’s something special about having someone that truly understands the crazy roller coaster of it all. This family owns Switchback Coffee Roasters and it’s the best coffee shop in town. A perfect patio for sunny days and the inside is cozy for cold days (or any day, really). I’ve spent many hours editing photos in their shop; lots of natural lighting and friendly employees. If you haven’t been there, check it out! We spent one evening the last week in August taking these photos. On a night when the sun is setting a little earlier, and there’s a crisp feel to the air once the sun goes behind Pikes Peak. This family and our family shares a huge love for our city. Both of our families have local brick and mortar storefront businesses that rely on the people of the city; our kids all go to school here and we plan to raise our families here. It’s a beautiful place and we all agree — it’s the people that make it what it […]

Mary + Phillip (married) – Colorado Springs, Colorado

Mary & Phillip Married – September 7, 2019 Venue: Hillside Gardens and Events Wedding Coordinator: Erika Weeks with Hillside Gardens Dress: Etsy Flowers: Victoria Designs Cake: Costco Catering: AspenPointe Photographer: Megan with Megan Hardre Photography. There are some weddings I leave and I can’t stop smiling for 24 hours. I feel like I’m on cloud 9. A post wedding high. I met this amazing couple, Phillip and Mary, about 15 minutes before they were due to walk down the aisle and left their wedding feeling like I met new friends. They were so welcoming and so full of joy, that it felt like I was coming to the biggest and best celebration of the year; and indeed it was. There were so many memorable moments, but my favorite was during the ceremony. Phillip’s grandmother is deaf and during their vows, Mary signed her vows to Phillip. It was a surprise that she had learned it and so beautiful. The joy everyone had for Phillip and Mary was evident throughout the day as was the presence of God. I’m a huge fan of ceremonies that speak to my heart too. What you say during your ceremony matters — it matters to […]

Bemni + Saron (wedding) – Kansas City – Post 1 of 2

(Post 1 of 2) I was in Kansas City a few weekends ago photographing a wedding of my dear friend Bemni, who I know from our church in Colorado Springs. He met his bride, Saron, through a friend last year and the are both originally from Ethiopia. It was been 48 hours filled with new experiences and meeting some of the most friendly people I’ve ever had a chance to meet. Their hugs are so welcoming and immediately we’re friends. I’ve loved experiencing their culture and traditions — and of course, the 4 times I ate Ethiopian food. The best. There have been many moments that stood out to me this weekend but one of the Ethiopian traditions I particularly enjoyed was when the groom sees his bride for the first time (3 photos of it below). After the groom and bride get ready in different locations, the groom goes to the bride’s home. So many people came along – the cars just kept arriving and people kept coming in. The home was packed and no one cared. They were all there to celebrate. There was worship, singing and clapping and cheering. Then the groom arrives. The family tries to […]

Kelsey & Anthony (married) Pueblo, Colorado

Wedding Venue: Pueblo Riverwalk Photographers: Megan and Callie – Megan Hardre Photography Day of Wedding Coordination: Katie with Day Planner Events Kelsey and Anthony were married in Pueblo right on the Pueblo Riverwalk. It was a typical blustery summer day in Colorado, but Kelsey made the best of it as did their friends and family, who all enjoyed the awesome live band and great reception venue along with the view of the Arkansas River along the Riverwalk. And how thankful I am for a bride and groom who are up for sitting down in their wedding clothes on their wedding day for the sake of getting some great shots! Can’t pass up the opportunity for some photos in a row boat. Meanwhile, Callie was with the guys doing their photos. Ceremony on the Riverwalk   Wishing you both years of happiness beyond measure! Cheers!

Broderick (3 months old)

My dear friends had a baby. Not only did they have a baby, they had a really, really cute baby. And he happens to reside in the most fashionable nursery I have ever seen. I’m pretty sure he’s perfect in every way and saying I’m excited to watch him grow since they live a stones throw away from me, is saying it mildly. I love these photos of Ashlee doing life with her little man. I hope in 5 years she can look back on these and instantly remember what it was like to hold him in his nursery chair and feel the wind blowing through the window. I hope she can hear his coo’s and laughs. These moments are fleeting, but so incredibly wonderful. Meet Broderick the Brave.

Ellen & Andy (married) Colorado Springs, CO

Ceremony: First Methodist Church – Downtown Colorado Springs, Co Reception: Doolittle Hall – Air Force Academy Photographers: Megan and Callie Ellen and Andy are the sweetest couple. They were married a few weeks back downtown Colorado Springs at the First Methodist Church, which is simply so fun to photograph at, especially outside with all of their neat architecture. We stopped at the Garden of the Gods to grab a few more photos of just them on the way to the reception. From the aisle decorations during the ceremony, to the flowers, Ellen told me it was a completely DIY (do it yourself) wedding. She is incredibly creative and made the details of the day very personal to her and Andy.

Megan + Jarred (wedding – colorado springs, co)

Megan and Jarred were married mid-February when we usually have snow and cold, and while we did have cold, we had fantastic blue skies for their day, which is all I ask for. Simple request, right? They were married downtown Colorado Springs at a venue I had heard about, because I live quite close to it, but also because you can’t pass this building without staring at it’s incredible architecture and wonder about its history. The El Paso Club, according to their website, “occupied this location since 1890 and was a prime meeting place for newly made millionaires who entertained in a similar fashion to the very high society of London. The club has transformed over time into the elegant downtown club of Colorado Springs.” Megan and Jarred’s wedding was elegant and classy and it was also a ton of fun! They are an incredible couple with friends and family that are excited to support them, have inside jokes with them, years of memories built, all to send them off into the world of married life. Megan and Jarred, thank you so much for having me photograph your wedding. Wishing you the best in your adventures and I hope our […]

Esther and Jeff – engagements

I love it when my clients trust me —  when I have an idea for a photo and it might seem a little crazy or silly, but they do it anyway. Esther and Jeff were up for anything and I really enjoyed spending time with them downtown Colorado Springs despite it being a little chilly. I’m very much looking forward to their wedding in Denver this coming summer! First, downtown. Thanks guys for being willing. =) Then we headed to a quieter spot, changed clothes and read some books. And cuddled next to an icy pond. And cuddles some more. Thanks Esther and Jeff for a fun afternoon!
