The arrival of Samuel Adventure

If you’ve ever wanted to meet a real life superhero, you just need to meet a mom. I love birth photography for so many reasons, but the real reason is because this amazing woman carries a baby for many months, her body changing, moods changing, and if it’s her first, her life really changes (as does for the dad, but this is about moms at the moment. ;). It’s an incredibly selfless act to bring a child into the world and being a first hand witness to a life being born beings me incredible, immeasurable joy. It’s no doubt God is in that very moment and each of those moments are so very different from the next. It is a huge honor for someone to ask me to photograph their child being born. So many things to consider on a personal level for each of my clients, and I am so thankful Ann and Joe trusted me to be there. Not only was it a wonderful experience, I felt like I left with two new friends. Ann is one of those superheroes. She called me last Wednesday saying she had been having contractions since about 8am. We prearranged that she […]

Phineas (2 months old)

There’s something about taking newborn photos without any props that soothes my soul. The images show quiet moments. Soft, cuddly baby parts. Life in a world where time doesn’t exist and there’s no worries or stress. It’s natural and real. And I’m in love. I’m in love with a little man named Phineas. He came into my life 2 months ago and now I can’t imagine my life without him. I want to remember these moments because as they did with my other two sons, the moments went by so quickly. I want to remember the swirl on the top of his head, his chunky little legs. In just a few months he’ll be crawling and laughing, and then he’ll have opinions and greater needs than just being with his momma in these quiet moments in my room. I hope you enjoy this sneak peek into my heart. – Megan

Paige – newborn shoot

There are few other things that make me love my job more than getting to know my clients. When we first meet for coffee to discuss my packages and look over albums, it’s then we get a feel for if we’re a good match for me to photograph your wedding. I think it’s important to find a photographer who fits with your style and needs for your wedding day. I may not fit everyone’s needs but for those I do, I try to photograph their wedding as if it was just as important as my own wedding. I love getting to know each couple and how they met. I get to know you more when I do your engagement photos and 6 months or so later, I’m there to photograph your big day. By then, I’ve known you for close to a year and I’m usually a little emotional seeing you walk down the aisle because it’s such a priceless moment (cheesy, but true!). Furthermore, it’s exciting when you call me to shoot your maternity photos because you’re expecting your first child… and then you text me to say she’s arrived and you’d love to have me photograph her first […]

Everett Patrick – Newborn

I was lucky enough to hang out with this little cutie pie in Denver last weekend. I think he was 7 days old when we did these photos and he slept through the entire shoot! He is such a good baby! I have a son who is 2 years old and I guess I’m fairly sheltered because I hadn’t had the chance to really hold and cuddle with a newborn since my son was that small. I picked little Everett up and the tears (mine, not his) just started flowing!! What a precious miracle these little ones are. Not sure if there’s anything better than little baby feet. I did this one in color and black & white since I couldn’t decide which one I liked better. Both! 😉 Thanks Everett for letting me love on you — you rock little buddy!

beyond the 4×6

I give a fully edited CD with the copyright for all my packages so I rarely get requests for reprints. However, recently I’ve been playing around with other options to offer you guys and I had fun with these photos on mats. The ones shown below are 11×14 in size on a black hard foam core and I LOVE how they turned out. I couldn’t post these before Christmas because they were gifts for our good friends Holly and Nick… and I couldn’t chance her seeing them on the blog. However… here they are. I put them on an easel but you could also frame these and they’d still look great. I like how they added a bit of variety from the typical “framed photo” when on the easel. They come in smaller sizes too and the photo below shows just how thick they are. Love it! Anyway, just thought I would share these with you! They are always available to order and fun to give as a gift or keep for yourself. 🙂 I hope you had a great Christmas. We sure missed having our families around this year, so it was quieter than normal, but wonderful nonetheless. Wishing […]
